A Baywood man has been arrested on charges he fatally stabbed a man Thursday, Suffolk County police said.

The victim, Luis Gomez, 22, was found with a stab wound in his chest in his side yard on Lincoln Avenue in Baywood at about 11:25 p.m., police said.

He was pronounced dead at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, police said.

Residents of the home told police that Gomez was stabbed when he tried to intervene in an argument between two brothers -- also residents of the home -- according to a news release.

One of the brothers, Edwin Ramirez, 24, was arrested at the scene and is charged with first-degree manslaughter. He is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
