A Hampton Bays man is being held for possible deportation and faces multiple traffic violations, including driving with a suspended license, Southampton Town Police said Wednesday.

After police stopped Javier M. Hernandez, 41, for failing to maintain his lane on Montauk Highway at about 1:14 a.m. Wednesday, they found he was wanted on a bench warrant for failing to appear on previous traffic charges, was driving with a suspended license for a 2011 DWI conviction, and his vehicle did not have an ignition interlock device, police said.

Hernandez faces multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and circumvention of an interlock device.

A police spokesman said federal immigration officials have requested Hernandez be held for possible deportation.

Hernandez was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday at Southampton Town Court.
