A Roosevelt man was arrested early Friday after he donned a Halloween mask, forced his way into a Port Jefferson Station home at knifepoint, robbed the residence and fled, Suffolk County police said.

Edwin Canela, 32, of 323 Pennsylvania Ave., was arrested at 1:50 a.m. and charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. He is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Central Islip, police said.

Police said Canela is the boyfriend of the victim's sister and that the home had been targeted.

They said a woman reported the incident in a 911 call just after 10 p.m. Thursday, telling police a man wearing "a Halloween-style mask and brandishing a knife" had forced his way into her home on Shenandoah Boulevard after she answered a knock at the front door.

Police said Canela threatened the woman with the knife and stole her iPhone, credit cards and cash. No one was injured.

Police said the weapon and items were recovered.
