Cops: Mattituck couple face drug charges
A couple from Mattituck face drug charges after Southold Town police said they found drugs, scales and packaging material in their Wavecrest Avenue home Saturday.
Police in a news release Monday said they executed a search warrant about 5 p.m. Sunday at the residence of Adam Huhn, 36, and Britni Zielinski, 28.
Officers recovered methamphetamine, marijuana, scales and packaging materials, police said.
The search warrant was a result of a joint investigation that also included Southampton Town Police and the Suffolk County district attorney's East End Drug Force.
The two are considered small-time drug dealers, but their arrests in Southold stemmed from a theft investigation in Southampton, said Southold Det. Sgt. John Sinning.
Southampton police traced stolen goods to the pair's home, and after authorities got a search warrant, police from both towns found stolen items and drugs, the sergeant said.
Each is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana.
Both were arraigned Monday at Southold Town Justice Court. Huhn was held pending bail of $5,000 cash or $25,000 bond, while Zielinski, who has a criminal record in Florida, was held on bail of $25,000 cash or $125,000 bond.
Huhn and Zielinski also were charged with grand larceny in the Southampton case, Sinning said.
