Cops: Mattituck driver in traffic stop had drugs, loaded gun
A police officer responding to a disturbance call in Mattituck Sunday located the suspect driving from the scene and, during the ensuing traffic stop, found the man in possession of marijuana and a loaded handgun, police said.
Responding officers arrested Walter Mason IV, 28, of Riverhead, during that stop on Ole Jule Lane in Mattituck about 6 p.m., Southold Town police said, adding that he was in possession of the marijuana and a .40-caliber handgun.
Mason was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
Arraignment details were not immediately available.
