Police released video surveillance photographs Friday in an effort to nab the men who used counterfeit $100 bills in December to purchase vacuum cleaners from two Suffolk County department stores, Crime Stoppers said.

On Dec. 15, a man bought a Dyson vacuum cleaner from the Walmart at 765 Old Country Rd. in Riverhead, police said, using five counterfeit $100 bills.

Later on the same day, another man used five more counterfeit $100 bills to purchase another Dyson vacuum from the Walmart in Commack, after first trying to use an invalid credit card.

Police said the suspects then returned the vacuum cleaner to the Commack Walmart in exchange for cash.

Suffolk County police and Riverhead police are working together in the investigation, according to a news release.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
