A Huntington Station couple was arrested Sunday morning after Suffolk County police found them sleeping and under the influence of drugs in a car with the woman's 4-year-old boy in the backseat, police said.

Bradley Pearl and his girlfriend, Elizabeth Schoppmann, were found sleeping in a parked 2011 Hyundai Elantra at the King Kullen Supermarket on West Jericho Turnpike at 9:09 a.m. The car was running and Schoppmann's son was in the backseat.

Pearl, 26, of 4 Shelly Court, Plainview, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child 15 years old or younger, a felony under Leandra's Law; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance endangering the welfare of a child.

Schoppmann, 34, also of 4 Shelly Court, was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

Pearl was being held overnight at the Second Precinct and Schoppmann at the Fourth Precinct.

Police said the couple will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.

The child is in the care of a neighbor, and Nassau County Child Protective Services was notified.
