Cops: Mom finds daughter bound to chair after burglary
Detectives are investigating an apparent home-invasion burglary in Islip after a woman called 911 Monday night to report she'd just returned home -- and found her 28-year-old daughter duct-taped to a chair, Suffolk County police said.
Police said the 28-year-old suffered minor injuries. It was not immediately clear if she was hospitalized.
Police said the home invasion occurred on North Ocean Avenue and said it was reported in a 911 call at 9:05 p.m., the caller reporting that on arrival at the home she "found her daughter bound with duct tape." Police said the woman told them her daughter had been bound to a chair about two hours earlier.
Police, citing the continuing investigation, declined to elaborate on the circumstances or say how many suspects were being sought.
Police also declined to say what, if anything, had been stolen.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS or Third Squad detectives at 631-854-8352. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
