Cops: Motorcyclist critical after crash

A Smithtown motorcyclist was in critical condition after crashing into a tree Thursday afternoon in Commack, Suffolk police said.
Stephen Peragine, 54, was going southeast on Daly Road when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson Road King and hit a tree on the opposite side of the street, police said.
The accident happened about 12:50 p.m., north of Blacksmith Lane, police said.
Peragine was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center and his motorcycle was impounded for a safety check, police said.
Detectives ask witnesses to call the Second Precinct at 631-854-8252.
