Veterans Memorial Highway in Islandia was shut down in both directions after a crash involving a motorcyclist and a vehicle, Suffolk police said. (Sept. 19,2013) Credit: Chris Sabella

Two men were injured in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car Thursday evening in Islandia, police said.

Suffolk County police said the crash occurred near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Suffolk Avenue at about 7 p.m. Details of the crash were not immediately available early Friday.

Police did not release the identities of either driver, but said the motorcyclist was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital while the car driver was taken to Southside in Bay Shore. The conditions of either man was not known.

No charges have been filed in the crash. Police said it remains under investigation.
