Cops nab man trying to sell stolen laptop
A man who police said stole a laptop computer from a commercial building in Bay Shore early Thursday was arrested a short time later at a nearby Long Island Rail Road station, Suffolk County police said.
Daniel Suker, 39, whose current address is not known, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary.
Police said an alert Third Precinct officer, Thomas Seifert, arrested Suker about 1 1/2 hours after responding to an alarm at a building on Third Avenue that houses the Bay Shore Classroom Teachers Association and J and B Personal Trainers.
The call was received at 4:40 a.m., police said. Seifert arrested Suker at 6:17 a.m.
Police said Seifert found two doors to the building ajar -- and then noticed a broken window. Then, police said, he reviewed surveillance video with the business owner, developing a description of the suspect.
Police said Seifert went to the train station because he believed the suspect he saw on video might be there attempting to sell the computer.
Suker is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Central Islip.
