A Nesconset man faces a charge of possession of stolen property after police found his abandoned truck containing reels of National Grid electrical cable worth $7,500 to $13,000, Suffolk County police said.
John O'Shea, 36, of 90 Deer Valley Dr., was arrested 11:55 p.m. Thursday after a two-week investigation at the Sixth Precinct in Selden, police said. His abandoned truck was found July 5.
Police said the insulated copper wire is used to supply power to industrial utility poles.
O'Shea was scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip on July 16.
