Cops: Northport man arrested in crime spree

A Northport man accused of a six-day crime spree -- robbing two banks and stealing three vehicles -- has been arrested, Suffolk police said Saturday.

Barry Napolitano, 44, of 268 Laurel Rd., stole a 2013 Jeep from a garage at Huntington Jeep on Route 25 in Commack, early in the morning on Sept. 12, police said.

Four days later, police said, Napolitano stole a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox from the garage of a home on Fort Salonga Road in Northport. About five hours after that, he took a 2005 American Ironhorse motorcycle from a home on Seneca Street in East Northport, according to police.

Napolitano also is accused of robbing Chase Bank at 120 Main St. in Port Jefferson on Sept. 12, and Capital One at 64 Main St. in Stony Brook on Sept. 17, police said.

He was arrested Friday in Buffalo and turned over to Suffolk County police detectives.

The U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Force and the New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad assisted with the investigation and arrest.

Napolitano has been charged with five felonies, including robbery, burglary and grand larceny, police said.

He was to be held overnight at the Second Precinct, pending an arraignment Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
