A suspicious package that "poofed" yellow smoke and cleared out the Manorville Post Office Wednesday morning was found to contain a fire extinguisher that discharged after being dropped, police said.

The incident was reported in a 911 call at 7:18 a.m., Suffolk County police said.

The caller reported that yellow smoke "poofed" from the package when it was set down inside the post office on Eastport Manor Road -- and firefighters from the Manorville Fire Department, as well as a Brookhaven Town Hazmat team and ESU police officers responded to the scene.

Police said they did not know how many people were in the building at the time it was evacuated.

No one was injured.
