Police at the scene of an accident where a pedestrian was hit by a car while crossing N. Ocean Avenue in Holtsville late Monday, April 21, 2014. A pedestrian hit by a car while crossing North Ocean Avenue in Holtsville late Monday has died of his injuries, police said.

Timothy Miller, 39, of Patchogue, was pronounced dead Tuesday morning at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, Suffolk County police said.

Miller was crossing North Ocean, just south of Peconic Avenue, shortly after 10 p.m. when he was struck by a 2013 Nissan Sentra driven by Molly Silvestre, 20, of Selden, police said.

The victim was treated at the scene for head and chest injuries by the Holtsville Fire Department and taken to the hospital.

The Nissan was impounded for a safety check.

Fifth Squad detectives are investigating the crash. They urge anyone with information about the accident to call them at 631-854-8552.
