Cops: Pedestrian killed by car in Ronkonkoma identified
A pedestrian struck and killed by a car in Ronkonkoma has been identified as a Ronkonkoma resident, police said.
William Matzelle, 60, was walking on northbound Ronkonkoma Avenue when a northbound 1999 Infiniti, driven by Angela Jozwicki, 28, of Centereach, hit him just south of the Long Island Expressway South Service Road about 5 p.m., police said.
The victim was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Jozwicki was not injured, and no charges have been filed in the case. The Infiniti was impounded for a safety check, police said.
Fourth Squad detectives are investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call 631-854-8452.
