Cops: Pedestrian killed in Smithtown

A pedestrian was struck and killed Wednesday evening on Jericho Turnpike in Smithtown, Suffolk police said.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was struck at the intersection of Old Willets Path at 7:10 p.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges were filed against the driver, who remained at the scene, police said.

The case is still under investigation, police said.
