A pedestrian was seriously injured when she was struck by a car as she was crossing at a Lindenhurst intersection Thursday, Suffolk police said.

Carolynn Rommell, 47, of Lindenhurst , was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment, police said. Eleanore Christie, 75, also of Lindenhurst, the driver of the car, was not injured.

Rommell was walking east across South Broadway at West Hoffman Avenue at 1:49 p.m., police said, when she was struck by Christie's eastbound 2000 Hyundai, which was making a right turn onto South Broadway.

Detectives asked that anyone with information about the crash contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
