A Suffolk County police officer and a 36-year-old Huntington Station man both suffered non-life-threatening injuries Thursday, when the officer's patrol car skidded on ice -- and collided with another car.

The crash occurred on East Pulaski Road in Huntington just before 7 a.m., closing the road between Frazer Drive and Butterfield Drive for about two hours.

Police said the officer was responding to an earlier accident when the crash occurred.

The other accident, which took place at Lenox Road, was considered minor, police said.

Police said that the officer was headed westbound on Pulaski when his patrol car hit a patch of ice and went out of control, skidding into an eastbound four-door Cadillac.

Both the officer and the other driver were taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment, police said.
