A pregnant woman walking on Middle Country Road in Middle Island on Friday evening was robbed by a man armed with a gun, Suffolk County police said.

The robbery occurred at 8:50 p.m. when the unidentified suspect displayed a gun and stole the woman's pocketbook, police said.

There were no reports of injuries and police had no details on a description of the suspect.

Detectives from Suffolk's Seventh Precinct in Shirley are investigating the robbery.
