Police are investigating the Thursday afternoon gunpoint robbery of a Deer Park bank.

A man entered New York Commercial Bank, 720 Grand Blvd., at about 1:15 p.m., "approached a teller, displayed a handgun and passed a note to the employee demanding cash," police said in a news release.

The teller complied and the suspect ran off, heading southeast through the bank parking lot, police said.

The suspect was described as a slim man, about 40 to 55 years old.

"He was unshaven, wearing a baseball hat, a gray long sleeved shirt under a blue T-shirt with graphics, light blue denim pants and glasses," police said.

"Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the vicinity of the bank robbery," witnessed the heist, or has any information about it is urged to anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
