Suffolk County police said Thursday they are investigating an incident in which a man beckoned a fourth-grader toward his car after she got off her school bus Tuesday in Huntington.

The incident occurred about 2:20 p.m. on Little Plains Court, police said. The girl walked home and told her mother, who called police. The man drove away in the black, four-door car with tinted windows, police said.

"There was no confrontation or anything like that. There were no injuries," a police spokesman said.

The girl is a student James H. Boyd Intermediate School in Huntington, and a spokeswoman for the school district said the mother called the school on Wednesday and it made automated phone calls to parents to alert them.
