Cops probe Bay Shore grave desecration
The Third Precinct Crime Section said Tuesday it is investigating the desecration of a grave at Oakwood Cemetery in Bay Shore.
Some time between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning, vandals overturned a headstone and dug a three-foot hole at a grave site at Oakwood Cemetery, 3 Moffitt Blvd., police said.
The hole reached the steel encasement surround of a coffin, but the coffin was not damaged, police said.
The family of the deceased has been notified of the incident, police said.
