Cops probe Copiague shooting

A worker for a waste-hauling company was shot Monday outside a convenience store in Copiague, Suffolk County police said.
The worker, who told police he had stopped for a lunch break at the Speedy Mart at 2225 Great Neck Rd. at about 11 a.m., was shot in the groin as he sat on the side of the building, police said.
The shooter then fled on Dante Street, police said.
Demetrie Breland, 20, of Westbury, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non life threatening injuries.
A police spokesman said Breland worked for a company that had a hauling contract with the hamlet of Copiague.
