Police have recovered remains - possibly human remains - from a site near a cemetery in North Lindenhurst.

Those remains, found near the intersection of North Monroe Street and Frank Street late Sunday night, have been sent to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office for inspection, Suffolk police said.

The state of the remains was not immediately known Monday and police could provide no details on how those remains were found or whether there was believed to be any link to the nearby cemetery.
