Cops probe East Quogue house fire
Arson investigators are looking into the cause of a house fire in East Quogue, the Southampton Town Police Department said Friday.
The fire on Bayberry Lane was reported at 11:02 p.m. Thursday and responding units found that the two women who lived there had gotten out, police said in a statement.
The statement said the mother of the middle-aged woman who owned the house was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for observation.
The statement said the fire was reported to arson investigators, who declined to comment Friday.
The extent of the damage to the house was not known, and the statement said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
