A Hauppauge bank was robbed Wednesday morning by a man who handed a teller a note announcing the robbery and demanding money, police said.

The man, who entered the Chase Bank branch, 603 Nesconset Hwy., about 11 a.m., was given an unspecified amount of cash from the teller's drawer, Suffolk police said.

He fled through the bank parking lot on foot, heading south, police said.

Authorities said the suspect is in his early 20s, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, of medium build and with dark hair. He was unshaven, wearing a white baseball cap, dark sunglasses, a maroon-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and sneakers.

Detectives asked that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
