Cops probe hit-run that left bicyclist critical
Second Squad detectives are investigating a hit-and-run accident that critically injured a Huntington Station bicyclist early Saturday, Suffolk police said.
A police spokeswoman said Monday Jose Colato, 47, remains in critical condition at Huntington Hospital after he was struck by a vehicle at about 4:42 a.m. on New York Avenue, just north of Pulaski Road in Huntington Station.
Police said Colato was riding north on New York Avenue when a vehicle, also traveling north, struck him.
The driver of what police think could be a light-colored sport utility vehicle then drove off, detectives said.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477, or the Second Squad, 631-854-8252. All calls will be kept confidential.
