Cops probe Riverhead grocery armed robbery
Riverhead Town police are looking for two men who robbed an East Main Street grocery store at gunpoint Sunday night.
The men, wearing hooded sweatshirts and bandannas covering their faces, robbed the Village Grocery Store at 733 East Main St. in, Riverhead, at about 10:15 p.m., police said in a release.
The men had a 12-gauge shotgun and fled east from the store on foot, police said.
Police using a canine unit found a loaded shotgun hidden under a shed in a nearby apartment complex, and they also found proceeds from the robbery near the Long Island Rail Road tracks.
