Cops probe Riverhead landscape equipment theft
Police from Suffolk County and the Town of Riverhead are trying to find out who stole $13,025 worth of landscaping power equipment from a Riverhead retail shop in June.
According to police reports, sometime between 5 p.m. on June 21 and 7 a.m. on June 22, one or more persons broke into Basso Motors, 1556 W. Main St., making off with several pieces of gas-powered landscape equipment.
Entrance to the shop was through a broken window, police said.
Among the stolen items are a chain saw, hedge trimmer, string trimmer, lawn mower and circular saw, police said in a release. Most of the items were manufactured by Husqvarna.
