Police are investigating the Friday afternoon robbery of a Babylon bank.

The robbery of the Capital One Bank branch, 8 Little East Neck Rd., occurred at about 12:20 p.m., police said.

A man entered the bank, "approached a teller, and verbally demanded cash," Suffolk County police said in a news release.

"The teller complied with the demand," and the male suspect, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing a red or maroon hooded sweatshirt, fled in a light-colored, late-model work van, heading north on Tappan Avenue, police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
