Police are investigating the Wednesday afternoon robbery of a Shirley bank.

The robbery occurred at 12:45 p.m. at the Chase Bank branch at 425 William Floyd Pkwy., Suffolk County police said.

A man "handed one of the tellers a note . . . demanding cash. The teller complied with the demands and the man fled on foot," police said in a news release.

Police described the man as in his late teens, about 5-feet-9 and clean-shaven. He wore a Yankees cap and a "two-tone, gray hooded jacket and white sneakers," police said.

Detectives urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
