Cops probe shooting in Bellport
Suffolk police are investigating a shooting in Bellport Sunday night that left a man and a woman with nonlife-threatening injuries, authorities said.
According to a police report, Willie Davis, 22, of North Bellport, was standing outside a car parked in front of 709 MacDonald Ave. at approximately 7:40 p.m. when a person in a minivan drove by and fired numerous shots. Inside the car were three women, including Janiqua Ankun, 18, of North Bellport, and a baby. Police said Davis was shot in the left arm and the car was hit with numerous bullets, one of which grazed Ankun's foot, police said.
Davis and Ankun were taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in East Patchogue. Police asked that anyone with information on this shooting call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
