Police are investigating the death of a worker Friday afternoon in an industrial accident at a Coram workplace.

Steven Siliato was operating a payloader at 3:19 p.m. at Premium Mulch & Materials Inc., 482 Mill Rd., at 3:19 p.m. when a co-worker told him he had hit another employee, Suffolk County police said in a news release.

"Siliato stopped the vehicle and called 911," the release said.

Daniel Sturgis, 25, of Rocky Point, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Homicide detectives are investigating, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were notified, police said.
