A Riverhead man faces a felony drunken driving charge after he hit two cars in a Riverside parking lot on Christmas Day and then allegedly tried to leave the scene, Southampton Town Police said.

Thomas B. Calhoun, 41, was arrested at 10:56 p.m. after hitting two vehicles while in the parking lot, police said.

Onlookers telephoned police, who after arriving at the scene determined Calhoun was intoxicated, according to a news release.

He was arrested and charged with DWI, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a seat belt.

Police said Calhoun had a previous conviction for drunken driving, making Sunday's charge a felony.

He was held overnight and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday at Southampton Town Justice Court.
