A Rocky Point man was arrested, charged with robbing two banks in three days, after he was caught hiding under a parked tractor-trailer in the parking lot of a Holtsville movie theater, police said.
Robert Edlund, 55, of 41 Elm Rd., was charged with two counts of third-degree robbery after his arrest by Suffolk County police Sixth Precinct officers at 2 p.m. Monday.
Edlund was caught minutes after fleeing the scene of a robbery at the Suffolk County National Bank on Route 112 in Medford, tracked to the parking lot of the Island 16 Cinema, where officers, with the help of highway patrol officers and officers from the aviation and canine units, found him hiding under the tractor-trailer, police said.
Further investigation by detectives from the Pattern Crime Unit then linked Edlund to the robbery Saturday of the Bridgehampton National Bank on Route 25A in Rocky Point, police said.
Police did not say how much money was taken in the two robberies. Edlund faces arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Central Islip.
