Ronkonkoma man charged with robbing two banks, stealing tools, say cops

A Ronkonkoma man was arrested and charged with two bank robberies Friday, Suffolk police said.

Police said Thomas Bosco, 30, walked into Roslyn Savings Bank in Huntington Station about 1 p.m. Friday, threatened the teller with a handgun and demanded money. He fled with cash, leaving the scene in a Jeep.

Based on descriptions of Bosco and the vehicle, First Precinct officers spotted the vehicle on Route 110 in East Farmingdale. Officers pulled the Jeep over, identified its driver as the suspect and made the arrest, police said.

Bosco was also charged with a Wednesday robbery at Capital One Bank in Bohemia. In addition, detectives determined that Bosco, a freelance handyman, had stolen tools from clients while on job sites in Melville and Mount Sinai, according to police.

Bosco was charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree robbery and two counts of grand larceny. He is being held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the crimes, or who may have been robbed by Bosco, is asked to call Pattern Crime Unit detectives at 631-852-6295.
