Cops say Nissequogue death not criminal
Suffolk homicide detectives have determined that the March 6 death of a Middle Island woman whose body was found in a Nissequogue car fire was not criminal.
Lauren Fontana, 45, of 505 Stonegate Way, was discovered March 6 after rescue personnel responded to a 911 call of a vehicle burning in a parking lot at Short Beach Road and Boney Lane about 11:55 a.m.
Homicide detectives said Sunday that while the case is still under investigation, Fontana's death has been determined to have been unconnected to a crime. No one else was hurt in the incident, police said.
Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477, or the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
