One Sayville man stabbed another late Monday over a dispute about money, Suffolk County police said.

Jesse Walsh, 27, of 139 Loop Dr., is charged with second-degree assault after stabbing Steven Weilind, 25, at about 11:36 p.m., police said.

Police said Weilind had a puncture wound in his back and a collapsed lung and was in stable condition at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.

Weilind went to Walsh's home because Walsh owned him some money, and after Weilind arrived at Walsh's residence, the two became involved in a physical confrontation and Walsh stabbed Weilind, police said.

Information on Walsh's arraignment was not immediately available.
