Cops: Security guards charged in assault outside Hamptons diner
Two security guards were arrested, charged with assault, after police said they attacked a patron in the parking lot of a diner where they worked in Hampton Bays.
The assault occurred Sunday outside the Hampton Bays Diner on Montauk Highway just after 2:30 a.m., Southampton Town police said. Arrested were Javon McCravey, 23, of Amityville, and Shawn Diming, 32, of Flanders, both of whom police described as employees of a private firm contracted to provide security at the establishment.
According to police, security had broken up a fight between two patrons inside the diner -- and those patrons had been removed from the building.
Once outside the two security guards followed and became embroiled in an altercation -- at which time the guards assaulted the victim, police said.
The identity of the victim was not released.
Police said the victim was transported by Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance to Southampton Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
McCravey and Diming were each charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.
The two men were issued appearance tickets returnable to Southampton Town Justice Court at a later date.
