Cops seek help finding East Islip hit-run driver
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Third Squad detectives are looking for a driver in a hit-and-run accident that injured an East Islip woman last week, police said.
Police said Thursday the driver was behind the wheel of a dark-gray or metallic-colored vehicle that hit a woman who was getting out of her parked Jeep on Connetquot Avenue at about 10 p.m. on May 30.
The woman, later identified by police as Danielle Mazzarone, 28, was thrown into the windshield of another vehicle and had severe leg injuries, police said.
Both Mazzarone's 1995 Jeep and the car she was thrown into were damaged, and the vehicle that hit Mazzarone also is believed to have sustained front-end damage, police said.
Anyone with information on the hit-and-run accident can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
A reward of up to $5,000 cash is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
