Police said a burglar kicked in the glass front door of the Italian restaurant in Port Jefferson Station, stealing cash from a drawer beneath the front counter.
What the suspect didn't realize, Suffolk County police said, was that the crime was captured on surveillance video -- his picture released to the public Thursday in an effort to find him and arrest him.
The burglary occurred at 12:40 a.m. Sept. 21 at Il Port Bello, on Route 112, police said.
Police said the bald burglar, wearing a hooded flannel sweatshirt, light-colored pants and white sneakers, is seen taking $150 in cash.
Police ask anyone with information about the burglary to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
