Police are searching for a man who broke into a car in Dix Hills in October, stealing a purse and a cellphone.

A man, wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a spiderweb pattern on it, was later seen on a surveillance video using the victim's credit card at a Pathmark store in Deer Park.

Suffolk County police said the original incident happened about 1 p.m. Oct. 28 when a man broke the passenger-side window of a 2011 Nissan on Pineland Court in Dix Hills -- stealing a black leather purse, a BlackBerry and a wallet.

It was not immediately clear when the stolen credit card was used at the Pathmark.

Police ask anyone with information about the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
