Cops seek suspect in purse theft in Elwood

Police have released photos of a woman who they say stole a pocketbook from a shopping cart at a supermarket in Elwood earlier this month.
The alleged theft occurred at 8:40 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Stop & Shop supermarket on Jericho Turnpike.
Suffolk County police said it was then that the woman took the pocketbook from a cart -- and walked out of the store.
The suspect, who has brown hair, wore a gray sweater, blue jeans and light-brown boots.
Police said she fled in a white four-door sedan.
