The Suffolk County Police Department on Wednesday released surveillance photos of a woman armed with a handgun who fired a shot at a Greenlawn gas station attendant, then robbed him, on New Year's Eve.

The woman entered the Gulf station, on Broadway at Little Plains Road, at about 7 p.m. Dec. 31, "displayed a handgun, fired a shot at the gas attendant, which did not strike him, and stole cash," a Wednesday news release said. The woman then ran away, headed north, behind a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store, police said.

Suffolk Second Squad detectives ask anyone who has information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
