Cops: Selden man dies in motorcycle-SUV crash

A 24-year-old Selden man died Tuesday night when his motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle on Middle Country Road in Centereach.
Suffolk County police said Daniel Gutierrez was ejected from his westbound 2004 Yamaha after colliding with an eastbound 2004 Hyundai driven by Samantha Brenkert, 20, of Ronkonkoma, near Rustic Road at about 9 p.m.
Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk medical examiner's office. Brenkert and three passengers were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by Centereach Fire Department Rescue; they were treated for minor injuries and released.
Police said Sixth Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
The motorcycle and SUV were both impounded for safety checks, police said. Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed the crash to call detectives at 631-854-8652.
