Cops: ShotSpotter alert leads to arrest
A Bellport man was arrested Saturday morning after an alert from a gunshot activation system, Suffolk police said.
Kevin Crenshaw, 33, of 742 Hoffman Ave., was arrested near his home at 4:42 a.m. after a ShotSpotter notification that indicates a weapon has been fired in the area, police said.
Crenshaw, who is on parole, was in possession of a 9-mm semiautomatic handgun, according to police.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday on a charge of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon at First District Court in Central Islip.
