Police and state investigators closed a well-known Miller Place bar during a surprise state Liquor Authority inspection Wednesday night.

Napper Tandy's on Route 25A was closed after "it was determined that the establishment did not have the proper assembly permit," Suffolk County police said.

Police said the investigation Wednesday showed the bar exceeded its capacity by 100 people.

A bartender and an underage patron were arrested, police said. Investigators from the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal's office also issued three summonses for safety violations, according to police.

Bartender Andrew Hormann, 22, of Sandy Lane, Selden, was arrested on charges of selling an alcoholic drink to a person under the legal drinking age - which is 21. He was charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child.

Patron Alyssa Rakidjian, 19, of 20th Street, Wading River, also was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, police said.

Arraignment information for Hormann and Rakidjian was not immediately available. It was unclear when the bar would reopen.

No one from Napper Tandy's could be reached Thursday morning.

Napper Tandy's is part of a chain of Irish pubs that also include locations in Smithtown and Northport, according to the bar's website. "The Pub that Parties like a Club!" the site says.
