A Copiague man was drunk and high and carrying a loaded handgun when troopers found him sleeping in his car Sunday along Route 110 in Farmingdale, State Police said.

Jonathan Ambrose, 24, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving while impaired by alcohol and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.

Updated information on his arraignment was not immediately available. Ambrose was due in court Wednesday on previous drug charges, according to court records.

Troopers from the Brentwood barracks found Ambrose sleeping in his white Chevrolet Impala at about 3 a.m. As they interviewed him, troopers detected an odor of alcohol and marijuana, according to a news release.

Troopers then noticed a large item his pocket and recovered the loaded handgun, the release said.
