Cops: Southampton man arrested in threats to bus attendant
A Southampton man was arrested on Saturday afternoon after he threatened a bus attendant during an argument about parking, Southampton Town police said.
Police said Timothy Hedges, 55, was arguing with a Hampton Jitney attendant in the company's parking lot on County Road 39 in Southampton at 2:39 p.m. when Hedges began menacing the attendant with a baseball bat.
The argument was over a lack of parking in the lot, police said.
Police arrested Hedges and charged him with second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree harassment. He was taken to Southampton police headquarters and released on bail, police said.
